“Well-grounded singer-songwriter with a deceptive edge….provocatively smart folk pop” – Uncut

“Her music is charming, pop folk with her English tones similar to a more considered, less fiery Florence Welch” – Clash

“Leddra Chapman is the owner of a beautiful voice. It has a clear pure tone, capable of delivering both dusky softness and considerable power. Performing live, she is every bit as assured as on record, delivering pitch-perfect acoustic pop.” – The Independent

Debut album release by Radio 2 supported English folk-pop singer. The Quiksilver ambassador reveals a knack for writing well-crafted songs, with straightforward storytelling and a pure voice

‘Story’, the first single from Leddra Chapman’s debut album ‘Telling Tales’ has already made waves, being playlisted for eight consecutive weeks on BBC Radio 2 after it was championed by Terry Wogan - Leddra also performed a live session for Janice Long in January. Meanwhile, television audiences across the UK met Leddra for the first time when performed ‘Story’ live and was interviewed on ITV's This Morning in January.

Live, Leddra has been impressing audiences with her playful and charming performances at key venues such as London’s Jazz Café, while in October she took her band out as the special guest for Roachford’s national tour and has just completed a tour opening for Dutch artist Hamel.

Leddra Chapman’s foray into music started at the age of 12 when she picked up one of her dad’s acoustic guitars and proceeded to write her first song. Inspired by Macy Gray's hit 'I Try', Leddra proceeded to write her first song, aged 12. Excited that she could capture thought-provoking emotion in her lyrics and melodies, Leddra continued to write songs and soon started playing gigs (wherever age-restrictions permitted). Never lacking ambition, Leddra divided her time between completing her studies, writing songs, teaching herself piano and also learned to produce demos of her songs in the small home-studio her dad had built in the garage. This dedication to her studies has prevailed and she currently juggles her prospering career as a singer songwriter with a music course at university.

The early demos generated a buzz and the Essex schoolgirl with the characteristic voice was invited to play at Manchester's 'In The City' Music Conference. Whilst there she played a beautiful 30 minute set to a packed crowd at the Warchild Acoustic Showcase and was subsequently chosen as a 'Best of ITC' in Music Week. With funding from the Icebreaker Investment Fund, Leddra recorded her album 'Telling Tales' with musician and producer Peter-John Vettese (Katherine Jenkins, Melanie C, Sia and Gary Go). The result is a collection of ten folk-pop songs on which Leddra's pure voice, beautiful instrumentation and the evocative words work together to paint vivid pictures.
Leddra has been chosen by Quiksilver as ambassador for their new Quiksilver Women range in a proactive partnership that will see the international brand provide her with valuable tools and resources, proven already in her numerous gigs performing at live surfing and launch events (including at the massive Quiksilver Pro France 2009 world championship) and at Quiksilver stores throughout Europe gigs. In November Leddra played 5 shows as a support for Jon Allen in Holland and her new single “Edie“will
be released in January 2011.
